WORKSHOP FOR POLICY MAKERS IN BUNDI, RAJASTHAN - 23rd MARCH 2017

Ms. Aakanksha Pandey, PM-Nutrition & Health, AAH/FHF speaks to the participants regarding malnutrition of children in India and Rajasthan.

To further strengthen the Government of Rajasthan’s budget outlay for public health programmes, AAH/FHF identified district where POSHAN was implemented and also the public representative and planned to organize a workshop for policymakers.

The objectives were to generate awareness about the status of malnutrition in the district, to make them understand the importance of CMAM/POSHAN and sensitize them for their support. 

Ms. Mamta Tiwari
Ms. Mamta Tiwari, ADM, Bundi, briefed everyone on the present situation of the children in Rajasthan and held unfamiliarity as the cause of malnutrition.

The workshop saw a participation of 23 officials from Department of Health and Family welfare, Department of Women and Child Development, District Administration, & the Media. The workshop ported the question in the minds of the district officials about the status of malnutrition in their district and their concern of possible solutions to the issue.

There statements proposed that the upcoming programme should include awareness raising, needs assessment and target setting, information gathering, the distillation of local findings into policy-relevant formats.

Mr. Mahavir Modi, Chairman of the district expressed his concern in relation to awareness about the issue. He said that strong awareness campaigns can help reduce malnutrition in Rajasthan.

Dr. Suresh Jain, Chief Medical & Health Officer, Bundi, explained about the role of POSHAN Programme for the physical and psychological development of children.
