Scaling new heights for a hunger-free India

About three weeks back, our friend and supporter, Mr. Atonu Das  came up with his plan of trekking in the Himalaya to raise funds and awareness for Fight Hunger Foundation (FHF). We are extremely grateful to Atonu for coming up with this inspiring idea!

Atonu told us,’’When I read about the recent crisis in Palghar, Maharashtra, I was shocked and could not believe that such a thing could happen in one of India’s most developed states. I dug deeper to understand the severity of this issue and realized how it has stealthily wrapped us in a vicious grip. Over 200 children died due to malnutrition-related causes between April and August last year in Palghar alone.Overall 18,000 children died in the Maharashtra between 2015-16 because ofmalnutrition.”

I decided to do something to help. I have launched the initative“Every Step We Take” ( to try and raise funds and awareness forchildren vulnerable to malnutrition. To start it off, I will be trekking for 16 days solo in the Himalayas, from Lukla to Everest Base Camp, Cho La pass, Gokyo & Renjo La Pass in March/April without a guide, porter or any aid. I hope to raise money and awareness for Fight Hunger Foundation, who work tirelesslyto diagnose, treat and prevent child malnutrition.

About Atonu: He grew up in Dehradun, in the north west of India. After his higher studies in Jadavpur University, he spent most of his working life outside India. During his travels he met his lovely wife Ashi, and together after traveling through Asia, Europe, North America and the Middle East, they found their home in Sweden. Atonu’s profile won’t be complete if we didn’t tell you that his  emotions are overwhelmingly dictated by Liverpool Football Club’s fortunes!”.

All of us at Fight Hunger Foundation will be cheering and following Atonu, during his trek! We hope that  “Every Step We Take” raises much-needed funds for our live-saving work and encourages many others to partner Fight Hunger Foundation in our fight to end child malnutrition Keep following our ( and Atonu’s posts, to accompany him on this trek. We are sure your words of encouragement will help him on his journey, and if you would also like to donate to his fundraising effort, please do so here   .

Your support will keep him motivated and spread this message to all corners of India and beyond.

I would like to save children's lives today
