Children run to end malnutrition

The energetic bunch of participants at the Run

We recently partnered with Rustomjee Cambridge International School & Jr. College Dahisar, Mumbai for Run Against Hunger. Run Against Hunger is an international sporting event held every year where every lap a child runs is pledged for by their family and friends. Thousands of schools around the globe participate in this event every year to raise vital funds for children suffering from malnutrition.

The sensitization workshop, as a part of Run Against Hunger, with children from grades 1 to 9 included information on nutrition, food choices and sanitation. We discussed the importance of eating healthy and avoiding junk food.
The alert young ones had dozens of questions ranging from causes of malnutrition to the means of creating malnutrition free sustainable communities! Fathom that, a 14 year old wondering how to ensure children recovered from malnutrion remain healthy and do not relapse! We were equally surprised and impressed at the same time as you are, by the bright spongy minds!

We are sure somewhere amidst those super smart brains, lies the blueprint to a hunger Free India! Post the sensitization, the energy and happiness with which the children promised to run against hunger was palpable!

The run, which was conducted during the course of an entire week, was filled with the kind of fun and zest we have rarely witnessed before. In fact it was quite a task to get them to stop running!! Children from both the primary and the secondary section happily ran lap after lap with their batch mates cheering! The amount raised through the run is the highest we have raised from an individual school in the last 3 year of conducting the run.

A special thanks to the Principal Ms. Tanya Valecha and the super supportive teachers and staff of Rustomjee Cambridge International School for going out of their way to make this event a grand success! We absolutely cannot wait to come back next year and be swept away once again by the dynamic and sprightly bunch of young ones!
